How stupid do you have to be to buy Shark Cards at this point?

  3. How stupid do you have to be to buy Shark Cards at this point?
-Take Two CEO says that they are not pushing micro transactions enough
-Latest update requires you to get past over 50 paywalls before you can actually buy the new content.
-200 dollars worth of Shark Cards doesn't even get you 3 vehicles now.

How f***ing stupid are GTA Online players that buy Shark Cards at this point, for real?
iirc ce seemed to be supportive of gta onlines micro transactions the last time this topic was created. i have no f***ing clue why as its far worse than most of the petty s*** ce has gotten pissed over before.
Shame they had to take such a fun idea like GTA Online and completely ruin it with their greed

I played GTA online on and off for a little while, don't really do so much because I don't have a dedicated friend group to play with, but even if I played it religiously Id never be able to justify spending money on that s*** lmao
KillerSlaw 2 days ago#5
Yeah I mentioned how f***ing out of control the micro transactions have gotten (and that's *really* saying something) with this latest update but CE seemed to just think it wasn't that big of a deal.

I think gamers have just gotten used to micro transactions at this point, which is f***ing sad. I'm really worried about Red Dead Redemption 2 as well.

I'm convinced that people who say this don't actually play GTA Online that much or at all anymore because the grind is so ridiculously huge at this point.

Hell, there isn't even a grind for the latest update. There's a straight up free to play paywall in place now where you either have to pay 250,000 dollars to unlock an item to buy, or wait 3 hours in real time (and only in free roam) for said item to unlock.

Also there are 48 of these items, and the order in which they are unlocked is completely random.

It's not entirely true.

The new vehicles all range around the 2,000,000 dollar range. If you complete certain missions you can lower the price around 500k.

But in order to do those missions, you need a Mobile Command Center, which costs around 1,225,000

In order to buy a Mobile Command Center, you need to own a bunker first to store it in, which costs around 1,150,000

Now in order to modify the new vehicles, you need a vehicle modification bay in your mobile command center which costs like 955,000

And in order to unlock modifications to use on the new vehicles, you need to unlock them through "research" which either requires you to wait 3 real time hours in free mode OR pay 225,000 to "fast track" it and unlock it immediately.

Oh, and you can't choose which modifications you want to research. The game chooses which ones are researched randomly. There are 48 in all.

And you have to pay to actually modify the vehicle as well. So say you research twin miniguns and fast track it for 225,000. You then have to pay the price of the modification on top of that.

So 100 dollars in shark cards (I'm assuming 200 is a typo, since the highest they sell for a single card is 100) would get you maybe 4 or 5 of the new vehicles if you did the missions to unlock the reduced price. But then you'd need to pay upwards of of 3.5 million in order to actually modify the vehicles to make them worth a damn.

Then you would either have to wait 144 hours in free mode to unlock the modifications for use (although, not all of those unlocks are vehicle related. many are weapon related as well) and/or pay around 11 million to unlock them.

The microtransactions are bulls***, but this guy has a system to make 800k in 2 and a half hours solo which is pretty decent.

The argument can be made that you still have to spend a s*** ton of money in order to have the coke warehouse and bunker in order to make this work, but honestly it sounds like TC has been playing GTA Online for a while so you should have these things by now.

I agree, nobody should be buying shark cards at this point because of how bulls*** they're making the system but Rockstar hasn't made it impossible yet.

You are now breathing manually.
Lets put a little lead in the air, and see what falls over.
I bought everything I wanted(note: not every single useless thing added) from the newest DLC and didn't spend a cent of real money to get them. And that's accounting for the new cars that are coming out the next couple of weeks.

Guess I just get lucky with my sales and deliveries in my businesses to not need a shortcut.

Vehicle Cargo mission profits are ridiculous once you get into top-range only sourcing, and sprinkle in Cargo Warehousing, alongside CEO/VIP missions.

So you're honestly saying that the microtransactions in place are not bulls***? Or are you just bragging that you've played the game so much that you didn't have to worry about the price?

Also, define what is useless or not because I'd consider the clothing useless, but not most of the research items.

100 mil legit here. Update costs were around 40 million for everything (top range mind you). To give you an idea, at the time of my 360 save file transfer I only had that much after 2 years or so. Anyway, I dont regret the time it took to earn that money, nor spending it, but for the average gamer, just to play with the explosive sniper or Rocket bike its absolutely ridiculous.

I'm saying that not spending our time on the expensive, dumb virtual things allows us to afford the actual useful virtual things, plus some fluff here and there.

People complain that things cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in the game now, happily forgetting that we're also making hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars as well as long as you put in mild effort, and that the "best" things in the game =/= most expensive.

Cars, for example. The best sports car in the game is still free, or at worst, 100k if you're not linked to the Social Club. One of the best super cars in the game is 700k to buy, and easily keeps up with the most expensive cars in a race. Million dollar apartments have the same functionality as 200k apartments, with only the location and layout changing. People are so used to instant gratification, and R* knows this. Hell, most of the shark card descriptions point this out as a subtle jab at people that want to skip the grind and buy all the frivolous s*** all at once.

Rofl, FOH with this. If you wanted to buy even just the cheapest vehicle in the new DLC and change so much as the paint job, it's about a four million dollar investment MINIMUM for the bunker, mobile operations center, upgrades, and then finally the car itself. That's about 8 hours worth of grinding Pac Standard assuming you can get one run of the heist done in an hour. And that's just for one s***ty dune buggy. This isn't about "instant gratification" it's about not treating the game like it's your literal job. And you work for a WoW gold farm in china.

It's like people forgot that long grinds in games are a thing. It's okay to not like that style of gameplay, it's certainly not for everyone, but that's where GTA O is right now.

Or just dupe cars and be smart about it. Look up Broontango on YT if you want the easy way to everything.

Not if its locked. The game wont let you in even if the door is missing.

And if they dont have it locked they can boot you out whenever they want.

And even if they dont do that, you cant actually save any car in your garage if its worth a certain amount.

Last I heard Rockstar f***ed up on the last ban wave and banned a s*** ton of people that either didn't deserve it, were banned because they were given modded cash, or were banned because they were doing dupe glitches.

Mileage varies on why the ban happened depending on who you ask, though. I think a lot of them are being reversed though.

idk man, me and the handful of ppl I play with all got $200m+ in hacked cash and the only thing that happened was that our cash(including legit money) got reset to $0 on patch day(except one guy, who only had like $2mil taken away for some reason)

not sure about more recent stuff though, I logged in after the Gunrunning update, bought everything and played off and on for 2 days and havent touched it since

But now I won't even do that on principle. They went too far this time IMO.

If you don't have money, it's your own fault.

Great, he's got a worthless apartment, some worthless guns and is about to buy a worthless car.

I mean I guess if all you want to do is get f***ed by other people then yeah he's doing great.

But what you're describing isn't really anything special at all this late into the game. His weapons are nothing compared to what dropped with gunrunning, his car is nothing compared to what dropped during Cunning Stuns, his apartment isn't s*** compared to the offices, etc. etc.

I mean, I hate to sound like that other guy but this post literally makes it sound like you're playing the game back in 2013 and have no f***ing clue what you're talking about.

Also, I feel like a lot of people seem to miss the point that so many are angry about.

It isn't even that it's difficult to acquire money, it's that this update actually made it difficult to SPEND money on what you actually want.

I can't just buy the vehicle or weapons I want and the modiciations I want, I have to buy a bunch of other s*** to have the privilege to buy the vehicle, weapons and modifications I want.

    But they're just optional

I think his whole premise is that one can't compete without spending a s*** ton first because the new stuff is OP, but I haven't had problems without that stuff.

How long did it take to get to 100m roughly, @LiqiudusSnake? I just got wiped and suspended because I came into 100m through a hacked server, and thought f*** it, I'll have some fun. Oh my god, online is just radical when you have access to EVERYTHING. I didn't grief at all, just had fun helping out newbies doing CEO/MC/Gunrunning work with all the cool gear. The oppressor, explosive sniper, hydra, savage, EVERYTHING is so much fun. It's how GTA Online is meant to be played, and is totally rats*** that it is locked behind a huge paywall.

Ive played pretty religiously for awhile. Level 712 all legit, aside from being dropped a billion the first year then money wiped. I do have fun like you mention, but mostly spend my time making money. I had 130 mil before the update, and 90 after. So now I wont be happy till I have 140 or so.

What do you do in the game if you honestly haven't gotten screwed by any of the weaponized vehicles or the explosive sniper yet?

I guess if all you do is adversary modes, then yeah sure none of this would effect you.

The problem for me at least is that nobody plays anything except free mode anymore.

Funny how a game named Grand Theft Auto doesnt let you steal other peoples cars.

Also back when the game was new on pc I went afk for a good while I came back to a dude shooting me with a machine gun that shot out bags of cash so I've literally never had an issue with money ever. lmao

I think what is even more offensive is that they've let this damn Chilliad Mystery s*** go on for over two or three years now and all it amounted to was a stupid supply run mission that randomly triggers in Gunrunning.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure whatever plans they had that included that Alien Egg were dropped a long long time ago in favor of GTA Online updates, and now they're just using unused assets to shut people up.

That alien egg has been in the game files since the PS3/360 version.
