http://gizmodo.com/exclusive-heres-the-full-10-page-anti-diversity-screed-1797564320

Basically he or she (I don't know who it is) wrote a decent article that points out some clear, truthful points about gender and many of this person's co-workers are losing their...stuff over it. They must be well off because I assume they'll at least be slow-tracked for this if not losing their job. The left doesn't take kindly to the questioning of their ideas.

Examples of things that are demeaning to women that are written:

Women on average are more cooperative
Women on average show a higher interest in people and men in things

How dare this person assume that women are more helpful and compassionate. FOR SHAME!

Examples of responses from other employees:

"a Google employee wrote a 10-page anti-women, anti-diversity manifesto that went "internally viral" today"
"If HR does nothing in this case, I will consider leaving this company for real for the first time in five years."
"He's not been fired as of this writing. The screed is *still* accessible by all employees."

So you took some random comments from people you don't even know if they identifiy as left wing to build a strawman that the whole left loses their mind?

Wow, how unethical plus you are really stretching the idiom "to lose your mind"

Keep going, it gets worse:

Women, on average, have more:

Openness directed towards feelings and aesthetics rather than ideas. Women generally also have a stronger interest in people rather than things, relative to men (also interpreted as empathizing vs. systemizing).

These two differences in part explain why women relatively prefer jobs in social or artistic areas. More men may like coding because it requires systemizing and even within SWEs, comparatively more women work on front end, which deals with both people and aesthetics.

Extraversion expressed as gregariousness rather than assertiveness. Also, higher agreeableness.

This leads to women generally having a harder time negotiating salary, asking for raises, speaking up, and leading. Note that these are just average differences and there’s overlap between men and women, but this is seen solely as a women’s issue. This leads to exclusory programs like Stretch and swaths of men without support.

Neuroticism (higher anxiety, lower stress tolerance). This may contribute to the higher levels of anxiety women report on Googlegeist and to the lower number of women in high stress jobs.

No sources are offered for any of these claims, which, as far as claims go, are f***ing massive, and absolutely demand a high burden of proof.

I wanna call out the "Neuroticism" line in particular, since that one's just insidious.

This guy has valid points regarding the limits of discourse, but after some decent philosophizing he descends into nonsense as well as non-sourced assertions and justifications.

I work for a corporation, we have documents that are in similar language as part of the executive staff. They don't cite sources because they are internalized documentation that's used as a basis for evaluating potential hires or inner work style dynamics.

It's weird that the title of this article is "anti-diversity" is within the title of the article posted, when generally the purpose (for us at least) is an indepth look at our current work staffing to promote diversity in regards of seeking candidates or filling out groups within departments.

Not exactly, it's based off workplace surveys, personal opinions from the employees, lifestyles of the employees, current staffing "culture", and employee evaluations.

This whole document reeks of something as a part of a much larger document that a senior or very high up HR representative published out to senior staffers that got leaked intentionally with wording to stir up trouble.

IIRC most of those liberal/conservative neurological difference studies turned out to be poorly conducted/bullshit .

Interestingly enough, the extremists on both sides point to the same studies as proof that the opposing ideology is a psychological disorder which can be treated through medications and therapy.

I don't know how your company does things, but I know that in most company environments I've had any access to, such studies have all the methodology of a syphilitic monkey, skew things like a motherfucker and eventually just confirm what senior partners already believe.

Also, if you read the motherboard article they linked to, you can see how people cherry picked one sentence from the entire thing, summarized it as that, an then got offended. It's olympic level mental gymnastics.

Then I encourage you to read it again. There're multiple good points within, but one of the key points is that the methods companies are using today (especially in the tech industry) are hypocritical as they are built with the stated purpose of increasing diversity (since diversity of thought IS a good thing when trying to solve problems), but ironically their methods are in fact forcing people think a certain way. Instead of trying to figure out how to make an inclusive environment where you use people's skills in the best way, it's trying to force everyone to do the same thing and get paid the same way - equal outcome without equal effort or equal ability.

Also a good key point. Whether it's the official company statement that has no quality statements like the "manifesto" and is purely generic drone drivel (compare the quality of statements in the original statement with the quality of the response) or the calls for firing the person by his/her fellow employees, the environment of killing good ideas because it doesn't fit the progressive cookbook should be alarming.

I argue this all the time with people. The right, they are very fascist in many ways. Freedom and free speech as long as it follows along with their ideology. Freedom as long as it conforms to their ideology. Mostly the Christianity ideology.

The left, they are all for rights and freedoms as well. But then they want to walk on some private citizen's rights. Own your own shop and do not want to do work from someone. Well, if they are gay or something you are in for a fight. Now, say you do not like gays and that is hate speech. And they want you to not say it. Some hear have made complaints about pray in school. And that is up to the individual. You want to pay then do it. If not, don't.

The whole issue is people on both sides wanting things to conform to their ideology. Whining and crying about their freedoms. All while trying to walk on someone else's freedoms.

losing - to become unable to have something. Agreed that in this instance, can you lose something that was never obtained? Philosophy

It absolutely does. Pragmatism is, at the most basic definition, "What gets me the most for the lest work/effort?"

Pragmatism is about being effective, like a machine. Calmly calculated. The problem is there is a reason the expression "cold, unfeeling machine" came about.

As for the general comments the man made on male vs female psychology, most of those things I have heard before from legitimate studies and journals, but he really should have sourced them.

Basically, I agree with his claims because I already knew them to have a grain of truth to them from other studies, but his claims are not sufficient for anybody else to use his paper as a source.

    Let's break it down

Google senior employee writes dead on article and the left is losing their minds

Google - see that's a company. Subsidiary of Alphabet, makers of the most used search engine
senior - a title modifier that indicates more experience or responsibility than one lacking that title
employee - someone who works for a company
writes - an action of putting ideas to words - sometimes on paper but more commonly done in a digital medium
dead on - a phrase denoting high accuracy
article - a piece of writing - previously used in context of newspapers, but since those are dead, now usually refers to an electronic document...often a blog post or e-mail.
and - a conjunction to hold two, usually related, thoughts together in a sentence
the left - a phrase in this instance denoting the American left - most usually considered liberal or progressive and in most instances can be replaced with the phrase "crazy lunatics"
    is - Ask Bill Clinton
losing - to become unable to have something. Agreed that in this instance, can you lose something that was never obtained? Philosophy
their - a possessive denotation to signify ownership
minds - something terrible to waste - the metaphysical idea of thought - particularly rational in nature

    Does that help?

Word by word demonstration why the title was clickbait-y as fuck and doesn't align with reality, thank you Tc.

What part doesn't align with reality? Quit being a troll.

I think diversity is important I just don't see how the onus has to fall on this or that organization to make it happen.

The solutions are fine. It's probably a good idea anyway to free up men to be secretaries and especially nurses instead of a lot of men taking more dangerous jobs they aren't prepared for.

it continues to be hilarious how people who call Trump fascist are also the ones to condemn people over free speech

Condemnation of idiotic free speech is also free speech. Why do you want to take away people's free speech?

It absolutely does. Pragmatism is, at the most basic definition, "What gets me the most for the lest work/effort?"

Pragmatism is about being effective, like a machine. Calmly calculated. The problem is there is a reason the expression "cold, unfeeling machine" came about.

How does any of this apply to the right? They can be incredibly ideological.
