Bottom line, if someone is destroying a monument or statue that isn't theirs, you can defend it by force during the day with deadly force at night.

For some reason, I doubt this stands in court.

According to the provided statutes, he's right.
'Reality,' sa molesworth 2, 'is so unspeakably sordid it make me shudder.'
I hope he's ready for the backlash. Scumbag cops really do bug me. Its a thankless enough job with out people giving good ones like my brother a bad name.

Far right response?

The right doesn't care about statues! It is a BS narrative by the Soros left to gain support for their white hating agenda...so what if a cop told folks to murder people who try and take down confederate statues...it isn't a big deal. Hillary's emails. Now that's a story! Durr!

I think if somebody wants to really get rid of those statues, there are ways to do it.

This.
As long as the local governance (the probable owner) or its private owner wants to keep it there it is protected by the law.
As long as it is protected by the law some governments not only enable but actually require it's citizens to help in it's defense (the same way you'd / could be required to stop someone from cutting trees for lumber from Central Park). Lethal force is only a laughably small detail in this matter, as it involves the correct "procedure".
I haven't lost an arm, brother. It is right over there.

In the US you are not required to stop a crime. I don't even think you have to report it

Just asked the in house lawyer, and in most states, you are not allowed to take violent action to protect your property

And by the way, Charlottesville didn't want the statue. The Governor forced it on them. That's why the locals protested the statue but out of state people protested on the Nazi side

In Texas you can legally use deadly force against someone who unlawfully enters your home, vehicle, or place of work.

If this actually happens you're going to see more people pissed, and I bet they will destroy more statues. None of this would be happening if Nazis and the KKK didn't have a rally to defend "muh statues."

You are forgetting that states have their own laws for just about everything. Some have "good samaritan" laws where it is punishable to allow a crime to happen in your sight. Others have heavy anti-vigilante laws that make it punishable to attempt to stop crimes unless you are with law enforcement.

Quick...Put up a massive statue of Obama and get your guns ready :)
I will try and see it from your point of view, but I doubt we'll be able to fit both our heads up there.
Wow that is so nice adding more gas to the fire.
