Hard to tell. Super frequently I just don't know what a group has accomplished, or is even trying to accomplish. Mostly because naming conventions are ridiculous these days, compared to stated goals (Black Lives Matter is a movement to force more accountability from police, Gamergate was about journalism ethics, etc).

That said, I don't think I ever figured out what Occupy Wall Street wanted. Dissatisfaction with America's money distribution is totally a thing, but I don't recall them doing much after raising attention.

I believe that was the idea. They weren't necessarily wanting to make something happen immediately but get the spotlight on themselves long enough to make corporate America have to come face to face with the fact that there are people out there who feel corporate practice in this country is creating a widespread glass ceiling.

Just putting a face to the plight, as it were.

I agree with the mentality, I just think that they didn't do what they intended with their approach. No one cared afterwards so it just fell flat.

Technically their protest isn't pointless. If it were just that they were protesting Trump being a poor leader, that would be fair. Their problem is that they're the most stupid people on the planet to call themselves anti fascists while they simultaneously beat people over the head with bike locks and flag poles for disagreeing with them.

I'm gonna have to go with this. I'm sure there are other stupid protests, but this is the first thing that comes to mind where I'm genuinely just like, 'Wtf?'

I might also throw in the BLM protests where they're protesting Michael Brown or some other people who are very clearly guilty.

Anti-Gmo.
Nobody who is for organic really understand what they are arguing for.
Some say it's the pesticides. Nothing to do with gmo, and still used in organic farming.
Some say it's the unnaturalness of the foods after mixing in genes from other organisms in order to help it survive with less pesticides. This point is all opinion and has no actual impact on anything in a negative way.
Some say that it's better for farmers. But organic farms get less produce by land use.
Some say they cause health problems but that has not been proven in any way, shape or form.
Some say it's the whole parenting of seeds and needing to buy new ones every year. But seed parents have been around as long as parents, plus it's a completely different issue.
There are dozens more reasons bring up, but the truth is gmo farming is necessary for the future if we actually want to feed the entire planet.

I'm sorry, but GamerGate wasn't childish. It was a call for ethical journalism. And being the professional victims they are, those opposing it made themselves look like the victims. Anyway, I say the most childish is Antifa. Just a bunch of anarchists looking for an excuse to burn down downtown neighborhoods and stores. That and they claim to be against fascism, when they themselves are very fascist.
Social Media. Seriously. You can't even say an opinion of any kind without someone getting offended about it.

Widescale? Probably BLM, given that several of its chapters are basically all-white and protest the effects of man-made climate change on third-world nations by blocking airports. Talk about missing the script. They also shut down a gay pride parade because they felt that blacks weren't prominently represented; and, for once, I actually found myself siding with a pride parade which is rare because I generally mock parades especially pride parades.

That's not to say the left isn't full of ridiculous examples -- because they're more socio-politically active than the right -- but it's difficult to think of anything with such little productivity and such tremendous ridiculousness. At least things like Occupy and the femi-fascist movements stay reasonably on message.

An outlet for populist anger =p While Occupy was a waste of time (compare them to the Tea Party, for instance, which actually got people elected and forced the GOP even further hard-right) and had a wide mix of demands, it wasn't like BLM which had a major stated goal yet groups frequently went in completely different directions.

Given that the movement is based on a logical fallacy, one could hardly expect it to be rational or well-informed.

Considering that they choose to don themselves in black like Mussolini's men while using violence and intimidation as their methods just like Mussolini's men did, fascism seems more apt. While some are Sanders supporters, the movement isn't inherently communist.

Just because they dress in the same colour doesn't make them from the same ideology. Since the Russian Revolution in 1917 loads of communist movements through out Europe used violence and intimidation. The Roter Frontkämpferbund in Germany for example. Even the antifa comes from that time. Both the MVSN and the SA was a reaction against all the communist violence.

Few things:

1) It showed how the reviewers were rather literally in bed with game companies

2) It was the culmination of much larger issues which had been simmering over a longer period of time including, among other things, ethics in video game journalism which was one of the focal points and tied directly to the initial controversy.

Anarchy: a state of disorder due to no authority.

You're a Trump cultist because you're accusing people that are against fascists of being fascist. That's exactly what the alt right Trump cult does.

Well, that sounds like a statist's definition of "anarchy" but in fact that does not describe anarchism at all. Does authority really exist to create order? Here's a rather short video explaining anarchist thought:

I think disrupting a "free speech" protest can also be considered exercising free speech.
I don't think antifa attacking people is necessarily helping their case but fights can happen in society and they have been provoked by right-wingers who are also looking for a fight so what do you expect? as for property damage, it has pretty much been proven to work as a form of protest as it gets the wealthy to pay attention.
Come to think of it, the occupy Wall Street protests didn't really seem to have a clear goal. Like... If we protest, these investors will give us money?

It wasn't about protesting to get free money. It was about the corruption of wall-street, and how the richest 1% or so of the country make life hell for the rest of the 99%, just so they can get even richer.

But yes, the occupy movements largest problem was a lack of leadership, and a lack of clear goals.

He's referring to Evergreen College which insisted on having a no-whites day on campus then had students later calling homework racist or something. Basically the place sounds crazier than Greendale, the fictional community college from Community.

You might have a better argument if said disruptors weren't specifically protesting speech and pushing for bans on speech, which is both fascist in nature and an example of how fascists operated in the past.

Gamergate. A community of people online participating in brutal, misogynist, harassment campaign under the false guise of "fighting for ethics in game journalism", while having basically no ethics of themselves.

Evergreen State College stuff too. I honestly struggle to believe its all real as it seems so cartoonish. Everything the students participating in these protests do is insanely hypocritical. Forcing their own voice to be heard and silencing any other voices.
Almost everything the far-left protests these days is every bit as dumb as the stuff the religious right used to protest a couple of decades ago.

BLM - Petty protests against police and government that ignore the issues that are actually destroying black communities, such as gangs, black on black violence, low attainment rates, single parenthood and a culture that's been trapped for decades in the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Antifa - Engaging in wanton rioting, looting, intimidation and violence because people want to express opinions contrary to there own. All the while calling people fascist while engaging in fascist behaviour themselves.

Communists/Anarcho-Communists/Anti-Capitalists/ - Protesting against the very system that's giving you the freedom to protest is beyond dense, name me a communist or socialist country where you''re free to protest for capitalism unhindered. There aren't any because they're either failed states, or dictatorships who'd lock you away or put a bullet through your head for the trouble. This applies to the more hardcore veins of socialism too.

Feminism - Literally a movement persisting on first world problems and modern myths, at least in the western world. You want to protest about Saudi-Arabia's treatment of women, I'm with you. You want to protest about the "pink tax" and the "pay gap" go away.

Anti-Trump/Anti-Brexit protestors - You're protesting against democracy, pack it in you idiots or it'll bite you on the arse once the shoe is on the other foot. It should be noted I mean people protesting against trump being elected, not people protesting against stuff he's done in office.

Communism is a left wing ideology, sources are on the page below.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left%E2%80%93right_political_spectrum

Political scientists and other analysts regard the Left as including anarchists,[16][17] communists, socialists and social democrats,[18] left-libertarians, progressives, and social liberals.[19][20] Movements for racial equality are also usually linked with left-wing organizations.[21] Trade unionism is also associated with the left.[22]

As for the US being socialist, no. The US is a free market constitutional republic with some socialist systems, the systems are supplementary to capitalism, acting as a safety net, they're there in spite of it, not in place of it. The same could be said of the NHS in the UK, not all socialist systems are bad, but an entirely socialist government/country almost always is as there's only so much public money you can steal.
